The Corrupted Egg is a miniboss found in Far from the Roots, a Secret Discovery beneath the Emerald Trail.
Combat[]
The Corrupted Egg itself does not move and does not attack normally, only dealing damage if you get within melee range of it. The Egg has 70 health and takes reduced ✹ Fire damage; once its health has been depleted, it will spawn its second phase, the Spine Shaker.
The level 14 Spine Shaker is the true boss, and is a challenging fight for low-level players. It is a ranged enemy that attacks at a distance by shooting large, difficult-to-avoid bursts of projectiles all at once, with long pauses in between each attack. In addition, it will occasionally cast the Flamethrower spell, which creates a dangerous cloud of fire for several blocks in front of it.
The Spine Shaker has 240 health, deals ✹ Fire damage with its attacks, and retains the ✹ Fire defense of the Corrupted Egg. However, it also takes increased damage from ✽ Water attacks.
The fight with the Corrupted Egg and Spine Shaker also involves two minion mobs. The Corrupted Revivers spawn around the Egg and attack with melee, as well as casting a Heal spell that can heal both themselves and the miniboss. The Corrupted Embryos are faster, more numerous melee mobs that spawn from the four doorways at the north and south ends of the arena, each spawn being signalled by a harmless gout of flame; while weaker, they can quickly accumulate and become dangerous.
After the Spine Shaker is defeated, its minions will stop spawning, an exit doorway will open in the west wall of the arena, and you will receive its drops.
Loot[]
The first time you defeat the Spine Shaker on a given class, you are given the guaranteed drops of 32
Emeralds and
Spiketop, a strong Legendary helmet, directly into your inventory, as well as 300 Experience Points. Additionally, the exit tunnel from the arena leads to a Tier III Loot Chest, which can be claimed any time you defeat the miniboss, as opposed to its unique rewards which are granted only once.
The Corrupted Egg, the Spine Shaker and their minions may all also drop Normal Items, Unidentified Items, Emeralds, Powders, and Potions of Healing.
Location[]
The Corrupted Egg is found in the cave below the house at the eastern end of the Emerald Trail, the same location where the Far from the Roots Discovery is found. To access the arena you must take the Corroded Key and use it on the nearby door, gaining access to the cave and unlocking Far from the Roots if you had not discovered it previously.

Trivia[]
- The Spine Shaker is very similar to the Spark Shedder, sharing an identical appearance, identical attack patterns and elemental affinities, and a similar name. The Spark Shedder was a Grind mob and was removed in the 1.20 Gavel Reborn Update, the same update in which the Corrupted Egg was added.
