Important to understand is Wynncraft's dynamic leveling system. Killing mobs near the player's level will gain them ''much'' more experience than killing mobs below or above their level, by way of a variable XP gain and chances to earn no XP from enemies that aren't the player's level. For example, a level 15 player would level up the quickest by killing mobs from level 12-18, whereas a level 40 player would be best grinding level 37-43 mobs. Each level of difference between the player's level and their enemy's level, there is a 3% chance to earn no experience at all from a kill, e.g; A level 15 player has a 15% chance to earn 0 XP on a kill from Lv 20 and Lv 10 enemies. |

This article is about Combat XP. For information on Profession XP and levels, see Professions. |
Experience Points, or XP (sometimes EXP), are needed to level up in Wynncraft. Combat XP can be earned from killing mobs, completing quests and miniquests, dungeons, and boss altars, finding territorial, world, and secret discoveries, or from several other minor sources, such as Legendary Island.
Most quests, discoveries and items such as weapons, armour and accessories have clearly-displayed minimum level requirements that must be met in order to access/use them.
The amount of XP gained towards the next level is always displayed in the green XP bar at the bottom of the screen. It can also be viewed as a percentage in the character info screen. In general, the primary level cap on any given character is 105; however, a "bonus level" can be achieved at the true level cap of 106. Reaching level 106 from level 105 requires the same amount of XP as reaching level 105 from level 1.
Leveling Up
Important to understand is Wynncraft's dynamic leveling system. Killing mobs near the player's level will gain them much more experience than killing mobs below or above their level, by way of a variable XP gain and chances to earn no XP from enemies that aren't the player's level.
If seeking to level up quickly, it's very useful in all cases to have items with good XP Bonus identifications (like Cosmic Armour). With that point in mind, one of the primary methods is grinding mobs in high concentration, such as in the Temple of the Legends. Mob Totems can make grinding mobs significantly faster, if you have access to them.
At high levels, the fastest way to gain XP is by participating in player-led "Dungeon Party" events, where large parties of players will repeatedly run Corrupted Dungeons, usually with the aid of Dungeon and Combat XP bombs (see below). The most lucrative is currently the Corrupted Undergrowth Ruins, or CUR, although CIB and CSST parties have previously been popular.
XP Bonus
Certain items (unique, rare, legendary, set, fabled, mythic, and some crafted items) can give the XP Bonus identification, which increases the amount of experience the player gets from killing enemies by a cumulative percentage. Temporary XP bonuses can also be granted by crafted consumables or Potions of Wisdom.
For example, if an enemy gives 55-70 experience on average and the player has an XP Bonus of 15%, they would gain 63-80 experience upon killing that enemy. The bonuses stack when provided by multiple items, and can be viewed in the character info menu. However, as of the 1.14.1 update, XP Bonus does not affect the experience payout from quests.
Double XP
XP can be doubled (or tripled) in a few ways. "Double XP Weekends" and similar events are held irregularly, and double all XP gained server-wide for their duration. Additionally, Combat XP Bombs can be bought in the official Wynncraft store. They give the server they are used on double Combat XP for 20 minutes (or triple XP when used during a double XP event).
If a mob would drop 55-70 experience normally, they would give 110-140 experience under the effect of an XP Bomb or event, and 165-210 under both effects. It is this new value that would be multiplied by the player's XP Bonus, so enemies may not give exactly double/triple the experience they gave before. Just like XP bonus, XP Bombs do not affect the experience payout from quests, but do boost XP rewards from dungeons.

Trivia
- Before the 1.10 Ocean Update, the maximum level cap was 70. After, it was increased to 75.
- Prior to 1.10, player Samabizzle discovered a glitch that allowed them to surpass the level cap and reach level 71. The "bonus level" (currently 106) was later officially implemented based on this event.
- In the 1.14 Gavel Expansion, the level cap was increased again to 101. In the 1.18 Economy Update, it was increased to 104. In the 1.19 Silent Expanse Update, it was increased to 106.
- The XP curve was also overhauled in 1.18, and changed again in 1.19.
- Although it may seem possible to hit level 107, there is no XP limit to "pass" to make said level up occur.
- You need around the same amount of xp from levels 1-98 as you do from 98-105.
- You also need about the same amount of xp from level 1-105 as you do from level 105 to level 106.
