Nesaak is a small fishing town in the Nesaak Forest. The town has a fairly large number of amenities available for its small size, which includes an Armour Merchant, Potion Merchant, and a Weapon Merchant. The frozen lake near Nesaak marks the start of the quest Underice. Wolves and Snow Zombies spawn outside the town, and an unusual Squid Village is also present in the deepest section of the lake. There are two loot chests located in the town.

History

During the Corruption War, Nesaak was a small village of the plains similar to Elkurn or Old Detlas. Due to its position close to the Roots of Corruption, Nesaak would sometimes get attacked by small corrupted hordes,[1] however no attacks by Bak'al himself, the leader of the corrupted armies, were ever recorded against the town.

The town was very close to the House of Twain, and thus fell under the protection of Theorick, a Twain who lived near the town. The town depended on Theorick for protection, however, when he began enacting strict curfews and asking for material goods as "personal reward" for defending the town, he became feared almost as much as the very Corruption he fought back.[2]

In 589 AP, as more undead hordes attacked Nesaak, Theorick decided to hatch his ultimate plan: go to the Nether Portal, source of Corruption, and use his ice magic to freeze it over, destroying the Corruption at its roots. However, when he returned from the Portal, he was corrupted and went insane. Fearing that he would destroy Nesaak and the rest of Wynn, he decided to sacrifice himself by freezing the entire Nesaak region permanently, creating the Nesaak Tundra.[1] Many of Nesaak's inhabitants were killed,[3] and Theorick sealed himself in the Ice Barrows.

Yet, thanks to Theorick's ice magic, which could ward off Corruption,[4] the town of Nesaak was saved from the Corruption for the time being. Even today, four centuries after the town's environment froze, it enjoys relative peace compared to the other towns in Wynn thanks to the Corruption not reaching it.
