The Realm of Dern

| Dern is a realm that currently does not exist on the map, whose gateway is located south of Wynn at the end of the Silent Expanse. |
The Realm of Dern, also known as the Dern Province, is a mysterious place that has yet to be released. It has been stated to be a place of darkness and is called a "far off dark land" by lead lore developer, Grian. He also has stated that in the lore of the game it is not considered a province, but should still be treated as one.
This has sparked much debate about whether it is a province or a realm. Many community members also believe that the dark area explored in the Fantastic Voyage quest could be Dern, but currently this is just theory and speculation.
Though the Dernel Jungle wasn't named after Dern, the quest WynnExcavation Site D shows that the Jungle may hold some ties with it.
In the 1.19 update, the Silent Expanse, also known as the Road to Dern, was released and houses the Portal to Dern, although there is no way for the player to enter it as of now.

- The word 'dern' originates from Middle English and is associated with "darkness" and "obscurity".
- Dern is referenced numerous times in Wynncraft. Some of these are listed here:
- Llevigar's Library Chapter VI is named Dern History. However, the contents of the chapter have been torn out.
- There are Dern Beasts on Dead Island.
- There is a vial of Dernic Essence (obfuscated text) in the quest Corrupted Betrayal.
- The Ancients in WynnExcavation Site D are speculated to have ties with Dern.
- The Enderman Island, which has since been removed, contained Dern Emigrants.
- The strange dimension in Fantastic Voyage might be Dern.
- Grookwarts has a hidden jail where it held lesser Dern creatures.
- Dead Island has Dern Beasts.
- The secret in the Abandoned Mines was also speculated to reference Dern. This was confirmed in 1.19, when it is revealed that a mine in the Abandoned Mines leads to the Silent Expanse.
