The Twain family was a group of magically gifted people that resided in The House of Twain.
Many orphans who were gifted with magic abilities were adopted by Marius Twain as well.
Known members
Marius
Marius was a very powerful mage that adopted magically gifted orphans. Although assumed to be immortal, he died in 570 AP due to old age. He is depicted as very old and wise.
Theorick
Theorick wielded ice magic that had the ability to greatly slow corruption. After the death of Marius he left the The House of Twain and settled down in his mansion near Lusuco. After he entered the Nether Portal, he froze Nesaak and the surrounding area and created a fortress in which he isolated himself which is now known as the Ice Barrows. He is depicted as bitter, cold, and greedy; punishing those who insulted him, but still doing what has to be done. He also loved to make pottery.
Mael
Mael was able to communicate with spirits and send them "on". He was also able to produce dark wisps to harm physical enemies. He died in The House of Twain because of old age. He was a master archer and was the one to teach Bob archery, spirituality and the history of Wynn. He is depicted as a recluse and reluctant to fight. People considered his magic "dark" and avoided him.
Rickeo
Rickeo wielded fire magic. He, along with his other siblings, left the Twain Manor after Marius's death. He was presumably killed by Bak'al at a later date.
Dwendle
Dwendle was capable of performing air magic. He left the Twain Manor after Marius's death. He had a surviving family, as Twendle claims to be his descendant. He was presumably killed by Bak'al.
Twendle
Twendle is a descendant of Dwendle with no known magic. In The House of Twain (Quest), he tells the player to get the Twain's Journal as he is no soldier. He is rich thanks to his ancestors.
Theories
This section contains information that is assumed, but not stated directly and may be incorrect.
- Marius Twain possibly sealed the Corrupter of Worlds away. As stated in A Hunter's Calling, stage 11, the seal is magic of the Twain. We have seen no such magic from other Twains.
Brief history
Marius Twain, a great mage, at some point started to adopt orphans with magic gifts and gave them a home in the House of Twain. His true protégés were Theorick, Mael, Rockeo and Dwendle. After Marius's death, the Twains split and everyone except Mael left the manor. After Mael died, lingering spirits began to haunt the house.
Trivia
- The last two lines of Lusuco's Library's chapters indicate that there was a last honorary Twain, presumably one of the many orphans adopted by Marius or Dwendle's supposed descendants.
